Clinical Work

I’ve worked in mental health for around two decades, across public mental health services, NGOs and private practice in the UK, Norway and New Zealand.

I trained as a Counselling Psychologist in London, completing a BSc in Counselling & Psychology followed by a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. My clinical work is primarily relational and psychodynamic, drawing particularly on attachment theory, developmental psychology and person-centred therapy.

I continue to work psychotherapeutically with my own clients, both privately and through ACC’s Sensitive Claims Service. Alongside this, I’m a Director and the Clinical Director of Talking Cure NZ.

Talking Cure NZ

I’m passionate about therapy — but increasingly, I’m also interested in how we make good therapy more accessible to more people.

That has become an important part of my work at Talking Cure NZ. We’ve deliberately built a team of psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors with a broad range of experience, therapeutic approaches and areas of expertise. The aim isn’t for everyone to practise in the same way, but to bring together excellent clinicians so that people have a better chance of finding the right therapist for them.

Talking Cure now provides therapy across a growing number of clinics in Hawke’s Bay and Northland, as well as online throughout New Zealand. My own office is at our Havelock North clinic, where I also provide clinical leadership to our local team.

ACC Sensitive Claims

A significant part of our work at Talking Cure is with people who have experienced sexual abuse or assault.

Through ACC’s Sensitive Claims Service, eligible people can access fully funded therapy with an approved psychologist, psychotherapist or counsellor.

If you’ve experienced sexual abuse, sexual assault, or a sexual experience that happened against your will, you may be eligible for support — even if it happened many years ago or was never reported to Police. You don’t need to have an existing ACC claim before approaching a Sensitive Claims therapy provider.

If you’re unsure whether what happened to you qualifies, you don’t need to work that out on your own. You can contact Talking Cure and we can help you understand your options.
